ACSI Staff

The Association of Christian Schools International is an international association that represents Christian Schools all over the world. ACSI in South Africa serves 85 independent schools that are serious about Christ Centred education in South Africa.

ACSI in South Africa is an association registered as a non Profit Company (NPC) registration number 2001/030186/08, and thus operates under the authority of a Board of Directors.
The Board Members are:
Mike Epp(ACSI HQ),Dr. Samson Makhado (ACSI Africa), Gavin Brettenny - Chair (Harvest Christian School, Port Elizabeth), Dave Klein (HeronBridge College, Johannesburg), Carel Krige(Doxa Deo Xanadu, North West), Cobus Sipsma( Lighthouse Christian College Brits), Gwyn Hannington(The King’s School West Rand, Roodepoort), Olefile Masangane (Young and Able), Edgar Ramsami (Shift the Future) and Anna-Marie Russell (ACSI SA)

The operational team at ACSI works towards enabling Christian educators and schools to effectively prepare students for life. They are people who heard the Lord’s calling as He asked“Whom shall I send? And who will go for us? ”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8). They are the people who answered the Lord’s calling in their life, they answered a strong inner urge to follow an vocation at the Association of Christian Schools International in South Africa. They are:

  • Hendrik de Kock: Education Specialist
  • Sandy Wubbeling: Education Specialist
  • Shelley Boshoff: Media and Marketing Manager
  • Mpho Bosman: Office Manager

Meet the team:

Anna-Marie Russell

 Anna-Marie serves as South African Director for ACSI, she holds an M Ed (Cum Laude) in Educational Leadership from the University of Johannesburg. She has a diploma in Gifted Child Education, is a qualified Lay Counsellor and a registered assessor with the ETDP SETA.  Anna-Marie is a trained and qualified Music teacher. English and Biblical Studies are her other majors.

In her position at ACSI she deals with government, provinces and other role-players in education in South Africa, focusing on legislation, curriculum matters and policy in education. Anna-Marie serves as Deputy Chair of the National Alliance of Independent School Associations (NAISA), as chair of the Gauteng Joint Liaison Committee (GJLC), she serves on a number of national task teams, such as the Task Team on ANA’s with the DBE and the Task Team on quality assurance and whole school evaluation between IQAA and NAISA.

Her passion and determination for excellence in Christian Education in South Africa is the motivation behind everything she does.

Brenda Edwards 
Chief Financial Officer – ACSI South Africa

 Brenda is responsible for the finances of ACSI South Africa. Her vision is to be a good steward of the finances so that God’s purpose for ACSI may be achieved, by enabling Christian educators and preparing students for life. 

Brenda is a fellow member of Chartered Institutes of Company Secretary and Administrators (CIS) and is qualified as a Chartered Company Secretary. 

Hendrik de Kock

 Hendrik de Kock is one of ACSI’s Education Specialists. His passion for education in South Africa as a whole but more specifically, is Christ-centered education, Mathematics education (try to understand why some learners struggle so much with the subject), the role of Assessment (as a tool to help learners to reach their full potential in Christ), Curriculum matters and teacher training. 

Hendrik worked as a teacher in several schools before appointed as a chief researcher in Mathematics Education at the HSRC and thereafter an Education consultant. Hendrik is married to Elmari, has 4 children and a grandchild. As Educational Specialist at ACSI, he is able to share his expertise with schools and other educational institutions. 

Hendrik holds the following qualifications: 

• BSc (Mathematics)

• HOD :University of Pretoria.

• BEd Hon (Education management) : University of Pretoria.

• Accredited Assessor and Moderator through North West University

Sandy Wubbeling

 Sandy is one of ACSI’s Education Specialists. Her passion is to see the young people of South Africa receiving quality Christian education (Teaching and Learning) that will enable them to be the stewards, God has called them to be. She holds an4 year Higher Diploma in Education from JCE,BA in Education from the University of Pretoria, Computer Assisted Education diploma in Education from the University of Pretoria and a Honours Degree in Education Management from UNISA. Sandy is a qualified Assessor through the IEB

Shelley Boshoff

 Shelley is the ACSI Media and Marketing Manager. She is responsible for marketing ACSI Curriculum Material as well as Purposeful Design’s books in Southern Africa to member and non- member schools. Contact Shelley regarding any matter pertaining to orders, delivery and information regarding curriculum material.

Mpho Bosman

 Mpho is the Office Manager at ACSI. She is responsible for communication between ACSI and member schools as well as the public, as well as membership and other administrative matters.

Mpho is married to Tshepo and they have a daughter Kamogelo.

She has truly experienced the diversity of the New South Africa and knows what it is to move from a challenging environment within a disadvantaged community and through hard work achieve goals and aspiration.

On leaving school, she started work as a call centre agent moving up to become a team leader and from there moving into a position of a Receptionist for an employment agency. Moving to ACSI fulfilled a dream to be able to continue to grow within my career while at the same time working within a Christian environment.
