Christ Church Preparatory School and College

Dawn Schmitz – School Marketing November 2021
Situated in the heart of Midrand on 8 acres of landscaped gardens and immaculate sports fields is the Christ Church Preparatory School and College campus. The school was founded in 1997 and, at the time, had a total of 6 pupils. We are thriving and currently have over 600 pupils enrolled from Grades 000 to 12.
With a strong Christian foundation, we offer schooling from Grade 000 to 12. We are registered with the Department of Education and our Grade 12s write the IEB Matric exams. The school has been blessed to have achieved a 100% pass rate every year. Our aim is to provide Christian schooling for the Christian families in Midrand.
Our motto, “To Serve and to Lead”, as well as our core value of Servant Leadership, stems from the belief that, whilst not all pupils are able to be leaders, we are all able to serve in some shape or form. To this end, we have an exceptionally strong Outreach programme which runs throughout the school. We thus ensure that we help, wherever possible, those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Our teaching programme has a strong Christian theme and includes daily and weekly Bible Studies, depending on the grade of the child. Coupled with this we provide mentorship lessons for our older pupils to ensure guidance in and out of the schooling environment.
We boast a very strong academic standard, which includes fully equipped Science labs, IT and CAT departments, as well as Hospitality Studies facilities. Music is also a cornerstone of our education and we offer choir from Grade 1 onwards, marimbas, private lessons in various instruments, as well as having worship teams and sound teams. We also have a well-established library, drama department and public speaking is offered as an extra-mural.
Our Sport Complex was completed in 2011, and our pupils make use of a full-length pool, as well as an indoor heated pool and gym. We have three fields which include a full-sized athletics track, rugby fields, soccer fields, cricket ovals, a hockey field, as well as an overflow field. Tennis and netball are played on 4 courts. Indoor and outdoor cricket nets are also available for various practice sessions.
Our auditorium, seating over 700 people, hosts our assemblies and other events during the week. The church holds its services in this facility over the weekends. We have two additional halls to ensure that all the needs of our pupils are met.
Academically, we have an extensive Learning Support Department for those pupils who may require assistance, as well as Advanced Programmes for our pupils who wish to push their studies further. All our lessons are taught in English, and we offer two First Additional Languages, namely isiZulu and Afrikaans. From Grades 1 – 3, all pupils are taught both First Additional Languages. At the end of Grade 3, pupils select one of these languages which they take through to Grade 12.
