PAIS

Richard Jumbe – ACSI Resource Partner November 2021
Our vision is that one day the primary mission of every Christian will be to advance the Kingdom of God and be equipped to do it the way Jesus modelled it. We believe that sowing into the lives of the children and youth of today is an effective way of preparing those who will lead the nation tomorrow, influencing the different sectors of our society. We have three distinctives, namely those of mission, discipleship and bible study, that we use as we equip the learners to grow in their leadership to impact their sphere of influence.
Sport is one way that PAIS teams build relationships with young people leading to discipleship. Through sport we have seen the children grow in their teamwork and confidence, just as they have been growing in their sports skills. It’s also exciting for us to see the young people we have been coaching become integrated into the life of the local church. In one school, within a few weeks children who didn’t know how to play football were ready to compete against another school in a friendly game. We also use the various gifts of the Pais team members to help with extracurricular activities, such as music and the performing arts.
For children, it can be difficult to wrap their heads around what it looks like to serve a BIG yet personal God. Share what God is doing in your life, school etc. Share age-appropriate testimonies and have times of thanksgiving.

PAIS teams also lead devotions, bible studies and discipleship groups. The aim is always to equip the young people to study for themselves and to lead their own bible studies. In some schools we have seen the young people not only engage well with devotions and bible study but also to start to lead studies alongside team members. The students’ hunger for Jesus is growing as they engage in the word of God, ask their questions and are discipled.

We have been so excited to see 123 young people choose to follow Jesus, 34 get baptised and 63 become integrated in the life of the local church since September 2021.
