A light for the Community

The Kings School Discovery ACSI Partner School

Under a sparkling canopy of fairy lights, The King’s School Discovery held our very first Picnic under the Stars on Friday 21 April.  We soon realised as we planned, that the Picnic would coincide with load-shedding so we decided to really make our light shine!  The Picnic took place in our Junior Playground from 18:00 – 20:00.  Families were encouraged to bring their takeaways and join the School family in spending this Autumn evening together.

As the sun set, families arrived with their blankets and baskets.  Children delighted in playing on the darkened field or trying to see the night sky through the telescope.  With generators, battery lights and torches, we enjoyed a magical evening under the stars.  With the quiet darkness that only loadshedding brings, we were able to see the stars clearly.  As Scripture says in Isaiah 40:26 “Look up into the heavens.  Who created all the stars?  He brings them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.  Because of his great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.”  God’s care and provision in the midst of all life’s challenges, gives us strength and hope as we trust in Him, as a School and as a Community.
