Redemptive School Discipline
ACSI is excited to add “Redemptive School Discipline” to our bookstore – a practical guide by Dr. Melissa Wetzel that helps Christian educators move beyond secular exclusionary discipline methods toward Christ-honouring restoration grounded in the gospel. The book equips schools to focus on heart change, not just behaviour modification, offering actionable strategies for educators. The book is divided into two sections: one for teachers, outlining redemptive discipline strategies for the classroom, and one for school leaders, guiding the creation of a schoolwide “culture of redemption”. Through real-life examples and practical tools, Wetzel shows how educators can walk alongside students in their failures and help them reintegrate into the school community with accountability and grace.
“Redemption was at the very heart of the gospel,” Wetzel shared. “Our Christian schools, then, should have redemption at the heart of all they do, too.”
Leading Insights Pack
ACSI’s Leading Insights series highlights the latest thinking on best practices for Christian school educators in areas of key importance in their schools. Each monograph in the series draws on leading experts, as well as Christian school perspectives and voices, to share fresh ideas for advancing you school’s Christ-centered mission in an important area of focus.
Serving God on the Christian School Board
Dr. Roy W. Lowrie Jr.’s original work, along with the updates his son, Dr. Roy L. Lowrie, contributed, have provided beneficial, dynamic information to Christian school boards for over 40 years. Now, Dr. Ruth Lowrie Markham and her daughter Grace Lowrie Hale, MEd, have updated the work even more in this fourth edition to keep the content current, relevant, and applicable to Christian schools worldwide. Generations of Christian educators have been positively affected by the Lowries, whose domestic and international educational experience and workable advice keep being passed along through such truisms as “The school is for the students,” and “Teachers are the gold in the bank.” Every Christian school administrator and board member will find sound and tested advice, as well as ultrapractical guidance on each page.
Teaching Redemptively
As a Teacher, you are God’s agent in the classroom. You have a divine calling to reveal who Jesus is and what His Kingdom is like to the students God has entrusted to you with grace and truth. No matter where or what you are teaching, you have an incredible opportunity to participate in God’s larger story and make His Kingdom visible. In the third edition of Teaching Redemptively, Donovan reviews perspectives to guide teachers in best practices and illustrates ways to teach for Kingdom transformation. Beyond techniques, he encourages you to deepen your personal intimacy with God so that you can thrive in spiritual health and well-being.
Bible Series
The eight-level Bible textbook series provides multiple opportunities for students to choose to follow Jesus and develop a personal relationship with Him. Students will learn how to apply biblical truth to their lives as they memorize Scripture and learn about Christlike character. Compatible with any translation, this series can easily tie into your chapel program and provide cross-curricular connection.
Lighthouse Series
The Lighthouse series is an excellent, value-driven Christian curriculum that is CAPS-aligned and Biblically integrated. The purpose of the curriculum is to guide learners to have a thorough knowledge and understanding of the subject content and principles so that they are equipped to apply the new knowledge together with their gifts and talents in God’s service and their community. The books have been revised and copies printed for this year’s print run is the 2nd Edition.
Sunrise Readers
The Sunrise Readers are storybooks written to make learning to read easy and exciting. They are relevant to the children of Africa, and to the diaspora beyond. The original Sunrise Readers have a proven track record of establishing literacy in Zimbabwe over the past thirty years. The text is carefully crafted so that skills are acquired incrementally – almost automatically or organically – in tandem with the systematic learning of phonics. The artwork is bright and appealing, and the Sunrise Children become the readers’ friends as they “do life” together. Other stories include folk tales, childhood literature, legends, and Bible stories. Learners are introduced to other genres, including poetry, reading for information, and “how-to” instruction. The stories sensitively convey the core values of the Sunrise Readers: respect, acceptance, honesty, kindness, courage and compassion.
Encyclopaedia Bible Truth Series
This comprehensive index to the Bible is the fruit of a life’s dedication and study by Dr. Ruth Haycock. Because a wide variety of subjects are covered and defined in light of Scripture, this tool will become your constant companion as you answer questions, prepare lessons, do research, and lead topical studies.
Character Foundations Pack
The ACSI Character Foundation Textbook series is a creative and stimulating program of instruction that focuses on godly character traits in the lives of students in kindergarten through grade six. In this series, God is presented as the source and strength of character. Students and teachers are encouraged to respond to Him in obedience, worship, and admiration. Students will step into the quality being studied by observing behaviour, discussing consequences, and participating in activities designed to strengthen their ability to understand and demonstrate each quality.
