Here are ten leadership lessons, gained over the years, that serve as guardrails to keep a leader within scriptural boundaries.

1. Character builds culture! People follow who you are before they follow what you say. Without integrity, vision falls flat.
2. Leaders must have the courage to face unjust criticism with humility, extracting the kernel of truth rather than retaliating. Resist bitterness and learn to hear truth even when it’s poorly expressed.
3. Never act from vengeance or spite but instead trust God, Who always judges righteously.
4. Lead like David, not Saul. David never learned the art of throwing spears. Instead, he allowed God, often through hardships, to kill the inner Saul that resides in us all.
5. Emotional resilience matters. Never carry the baggage from one meeting into the next; each person deserves a fresh you.
6. Avoid curious inquiry into other people’s lives. Comparison is the thief of joy!
7. As leaders, we are always “at the mic,” so our words, presence, and tone matter … all the time!
8. Embrace innovation and change without compromising the traditional values that have defined your organisation over the years.
9. Be a dealer of hope. A positive attitude, words of encouragement, and affirmation cost nothing …only awareness and a few moments to acknowledge. It’s the “free fuel” that propels people forward in their roles.
10.  Finally, leadership isn’t about personal legacy, but a shared story. It’s not about what you have achieved, but what you and your team have accomplished together.
