Unlocking Global Expertise: Empowering ECD Principals in Southern Africa

Debbie-Sue Blanks | ACSI Assistant Director

One of the privileges of belonging to ACSI is the global access we have to incredible experts in Christian education, along with their willingness to share resources.  After a recent conversation with Dr Althea Penn, the ACSI Director of Early Education in the US, I was humbled by her heart to support our schools in Southern Africa and encouraged by her commitment to find ways to make their online workshops and trainings available to us.

While it is not possible for our individual schools to access the full ACSI Global resources, I am excited about some of the options we have available to us.

  1. For ECD principals and leaders there is a monthly professional learning community (PLC) which you can join, where members can discuss current developments in early childhood education. This is open to all ECD principals and leaders around the world and is held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 8pm South Africa time. We will also record the session for those unable to attend, but it is recommended that you attend the live meeting in order to participate in and contribute to the PLC. Please make a note of the link and join us. EE Leader Network
  2. Online ECD training webinars will also be made available to us from time to time and we hope to host one in the next few months.
  3. Links to relevant ECD sites will be shared with us as we seek ways to improve our schools. A link that I would like to share with you is from the CDC, the Center of Disease Control and Prevention in the US. It takes you to a useful online milestone checklist to assess child development from 2 months to 5 years. CDC offers a free online child development milestone checklist

I’m so grateful to our brothers and sisters around the globe who serve a risen Saviour, and because of His great love, are willing to share the work of their labour to benefit and grow the kingdom of God.
