Job Summary/Key Duties:

The Grade R Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, Christ-centered learning environment that promotes the holistic development of learners in preparation for Grade 1. The teacher must implement the CAPS curriculum through engaging, age-appropriate and play-based learning experiences, integrate Biblical principles into daily teaching, and support the academic, social, emotional, physical and spiritual development of every learner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
– Teaching and Learning: Plan and implement CAPS-aligned lessons using play-based, practical and interactive teaching strategies.
– Christian Education: Integrate Biblical principles and Christian values into daily classroom activities and promote Christ-like character.
– Learner Development: Support learners’ cognitive, language, mathematical, physical, social, emotional and creative development.
– Assessment and Reporting: Conduct ongoing informal and formal assessments, monitor learner progress, maintain accurate records and communicate progress to parents.
– Learner Support: Identify barriers to learning, implement appropriate interventions and collaborate with the School-Based Support Team (SBST) in line with the SIAS policy.
– Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, stimulating, organised and inclusive classroom that encourages positive behaviour, independence and responsibility.
– Parent Communication: Build positive partnerships with parents and communicate learners’ progress, needs and achievements professionally.
– School Participation: Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, assemblies and extracurricular activities as required.
– Professional Conduct: Uphold JCA’s Christian ethos, policies, code of conduct and commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor of Education Degree (B.Ed) Foundation Phase
• Must be fluent in English and Tswana
