SFC-SA (Smart device Free Childhood South Africa) is part of a global movement – a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting healthy childhood development by encouraging the delay of access to smart devices and social media, phone-free schools and safeguarding of tech used in education. We support parents and school to choose a low-tech, slow tech approach that fosters real-world connection, creativity, and well-being for children.
Through education, advocacy, and practical resources, SFC-SA empowers families and schools to prioritise time offline for children, to help build crucial social, emotional, and cognitive skills that may be inhibited by excessive screen time.
