Victorious Living
Morgan Nel | ACSI Assistant Director
To live a victorious life, we have to ensure that we never skip a day at the School of Faith. When we consider the world around us, we find that confusion and disorder are the order of the day. So many lives portray dysfunction and defeat – even within the Body of Christ.
Believers are encouraged to live according to God’s way, yet they live according to their culture, or the worldly ways modelled around them. How can we live the faith-life unless we attend the School of Faith? How then, should we live and how do we move towards a life in accordance with God’s will?
In our journey, we learn some valuable truths: how to live by faith; how to obtain the unattainable; how to transform our lives by transforming our thinking; and how to overcome our weaknesses. These four steps lead us to maintain lasting change.
It starts with accepting God’s Word by faith. God’s Word is the seed we need to sow into our hearts. He has supplied us with sixty-six bags of seed that we must employ and deploy in our lives. Daily absorption and application of His Word rebuilds our lives and shifts our paradigms to be aligned with His perfect will.
God’s Word gives us the assurance of salvation. It shows us the fundamentals and foundational truths about who we are in Him. It supplies us with a truth-plumbline against which we can measure all aspects and issues in our lives. It shows us the corrective measures we need to employ and instructs us in righteousness, leading to our maturing, and enabling us to find and do God’s will. When our thoughts are aligned with God’s thoughts, our words will align with our actions, leading to good works – because we are saved, and not good works in order to be saved.

As we find ourselves in the world, but not of it, we must usher in Kingdom living. The operating system of fear must make way for the operating system of faith. We must admit that there are errors in the belief system we grew up in. As these errors of thinking are exposed through studying God’s Word, every crisis becomes a teaching opportunity. It is a lack of knowledge that causes our confusion, disorder, dysfunction, and defeat. The renewal of the mind takes the information gathered form the Word, leading to transformation and ultimately revelation in our hearts. This journey becomes a victorious cycle of learning. Our errors are exposed – leading to better choices and behavioural changes.
The devil’s plan to keep us in a state of ignorance is expelled when we become a daily student in the Word. As we meditate on scripture, study it and learn to identify lies and replace them with Truth, we are enabled to cast out all fear. We grow in wisdom and accept perfect Love. In His Word we find the liberty of knowing His heart. We experience His unconditional love and discover His promises.
Our downfall is wrapped up in our weaknesses. We have all sinned and fallen short of His glory. Whether it is pride, jealousy, impatience, or anger, we need to deal with these sins by acknowledging, deleting, and destroying them with His help. These sins have relatives and bond us to wrong company. Tolerating a sin is no way to evict it from our lives. Separating ourselves from negative influences and clinging to what is good allows us to become overcomers in Christ.
How do you grow and create lasting change? Know what wrong belief systems you have. Constantly drench yourself in His Word and allow Holy Spirit to teach and train you. Know your weaknesses – the areas in your life where you are constantly defeated. Have a truth explosion by allowing God to shed His light on hinderances on your life path. Feed your spirit with the Seed of the Word daily. Memorise, pray and confess scripture over your life daily as you come in agreement with His truth.
As we journey through life, may you be an overcomer in the School of Faith.
