ABOUT SCAS

SCAS (Sport for Christ Action SA), was founded in 1995 as an NPO in Stellenbosch by a group of Christian sportsmen. They realised that sports ministry is an excellent platform to spread the Gospel of Christ. The vision is to glorify God by making disciples in and through sport and adventure. SCAS is an inter-racial and inter-denominational ministry which wants to spread the Gospel message of God’s love.

Over time, the ministry expanded into a variety of programmes and services. The SCAS campsite, Die Eiland, is just outside Stellenbosch. 

PROGRAMMES AND SERVICES

SCAS offers a variety of programmes with which we can support schools.

SCAS Campsite: We offer SCAS camps and self-catering camps. These include: school camps (especially during the week), weekend camps (especially churches and youth), holiday camps (ministry), as well as team building and conferences.

SCAS offers Christian-based outdoor camps at only R990 per camp (3 days), but is also available to assist schools in other ways when necessary. Smaller schools are also able to consider the option of joint camps with other schools.

Sport ministry: SCAS focuses especially on coaches and coaches, individuals/players, and churches and youth. We offer a variety of courses (including 3D Coaching/Coach 360); and bible studies – groups and outreaches. SCAS is also looking at options to assist schools (coaches, players) with quality sports development (training, camps, bible study, etc.).

Training Centre: SCAS offers courses such as Mental Toughness, 3D Educator, Leadership, Man-up, SportLife and Life Skills.

Furthermore, SCAS is also investigating a possible service year/internship option in which BEd students or volunteers can be placed at schools. In return, the school offers them practical experience, affordable accommodation, etc.
